Leadership and Staff
Thom King
CEO
Thom joined HealthSouth of Florence in February of 2010 as CEO after serving as COO at HealthSouth of Columbia.  He is responsible for managing all operations at the hospital. A native of Mullins, Thom served in hospital leadership positions in Gaffney and Chester before joining HealthSouth. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in health care administration from the Medical University of South Carolina. He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, camping and mountain biking.

Pam Jackson, RN, MS
Director of Nursing
Pam received an undergraduate degree in biology from Francis Marion University and a bachelor's degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina.  She earned her master's degree in nursing as well as a graduate certificate in nursing education from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.  Pam comes to HealthSouth Florence with 12 years experience in the field of nursing and is responsible for the supervision of the Nursing, Pharmacy, and Dietary departments.  She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the South Carolina Nurses Association.

Jill Strawn
Director Of Therapy Operations
Jill joined HealthSouth of Florence in August 2010 and is currently serving as the director of therapy pperations.  She received her degree in physical therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina and brings more than 18 years of experience to HealthSouth. Jill is currently responsible for the supervision of the physical, occupational and speech therapy departments and is a strong advocate for quality patient care. Jill and her husband Chad are Florence residents and have two children. Jill enjoys working with the children's ministry at her church and spending time with her family.

Derick Urquhart
DMO
Derick joined HealthSouth in April of 2010 as the Director of Marketing Operations.  He oversees the hospital’s admissions, marketing services and staff. He comes to HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Florence with more than 11 years of experience in health care. Most recently, he served as the hospice state administrator for Winyah Community Health Care. Prior to this six-year position, he also served as the community liaison for Winyah since 1999. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Urquhart and his wife Amy are native Florence residents and have one daughter, Cate. He is also the head coach of the Florence Post 1 American Legion baseball team and enjoys hunting, fishing and playing golf.

Lori Beaton, MBA
Controller

Lori joined the HealthSouth Florence team as Controller in November 2011. She is responsible for the overall financial operations of the hospital, as well as the Health Information Management, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Purchasing departments. Lori received her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and her master’s of business administration from Columbia Southern University. She has 18 years of accounting experience with eight years focused on healthcare operations. Lori and her husband, Scott, are the proud parents of fraternal twin daughters and a son. She serves as the President of the Pee Dee Mothers of Multiples Club and is a member of the Financial Advisory Committee at the Kings Academy.


Dana Browder, RN
Director of Quality & Risk
Dana received an associate's degree in Nursing from Central Carolina Technical College.  With expertise in nursing management and quality improvement, she brings more than 14 years of nursing experience to with to HealthSouth Florence. Dana is responsible for maintaining the hospital's compliance with state and federal standards, quality of patient care, and patient safety.

Susan Trantham
Director of Human Resources
Susan has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare human resource management at HealthSouth Florence. She is a member of the South Carolina Hospital Human Resources Association.

Ann Spearman
Ann received her bachelor's degree from Francis Marion College and has worked in the healthcare field for 22 years.  She has worked in many departments of HealthSouth, including four years as a marketing representative and two years in admissions. Ann joined the case management department in August 2009 and now oversees the daily operations of case management, ensuring services are delivered to meet the needs of patients and families.

Dean Lorenz, MD
Dr. Lorenz comes to HealthSouth with 16 years of experience as a medical director of an inpatient rehabilitation hospital.  He is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specializing in spasticity management and EMG.

Daniel Collins, MD
Dr. Collins come to HealthSouth with 15 years experience as a Board Certified Physical Medicine and Rehab physician in North Carolina.
